Halloween. I bet you're expecting something all about the Veil between the worlds, or some other Pagan position regarding the sanctity of the day. Nope... You get:
Harry Houdini
Harry Houdini was born Erik Weisz on March 24, 1874 and dies on October 31st 1926.
In between those dates he did a lot of stuff that I bet you have no idea about.
He flew a plane across Australia in 1910, and landed without crashing... He wasn't the first guy to make the flight, but he was the first not to crash.
He made movies! In 1923 he bought a movie company, but left the business because it was not profitable.
He DID NOT DIE in the water tank. He died due to complications of appendicitis.
There are all kinds of fun things about Houdini... Like his wife held a seance every year for 10 years after his death, even though the guy believed that mediums were fake and spent a lot of his career proving them wrong. She said after the last one " Ten years is long enough to wait for any man" (You go GIRL!)
Happy Halloween and

Today is the birthday of one of the worlds greatest artists. She is a woman most talented and world renowned for her vocal style. She helped to shape the face of Rock n Roll music and become and icon and inspiration to her fans, young women and the world. She began with soothing, drug induced melodies that developed and formed into a 25 year career spanning three generations. From "White Rabbit" in 1967 to "Nothings Gonna Stop us Now" in 1987 the stunning reverberations of the whiskey smooth Ms. Grace Slick nee Wing can not be copied, or out done. We pause our laughter today to pay homage and tribute to the "Grace Slick Moan," all things Rock n Roll and the incredible inspiration of this woman who makes Katy Perry, Lindsey Lohan and Brittany Spears look like quite kittens (I mean really... she was publicly planning to slip the president some acid!). This woman Rocks, on so many levels. Happy 72nd Birthday Grace "The Acid Queen" Slick!

Today in 1838 Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs orders all Mormons out of his state or they will be exterminated.
I wonder if they woke him up knocking on the front door to sell him a bible too many times?

The Angam Day
The South Pacific island of Nauru has a holiday today.
Angam means celebration and what better to celebrate than when babies are born! The island of Nauru has been in crisis twice now, it's population has fallen remarkably low and so the race was set. The Nauruans needed to have 1,500 members of their population and the date that happened would be Angam day. October 26, 1932 was the first and official Angam day, even though the population of the island has fallen below 1,500 and many more Angam races have been held.
Everyone likes babies and kittens so smile for the Angam baby.

1994 - Susan Smith of Union, South Carolina claims her children are carjacked and puts out a teary heart felt plea for their return.
Turns out Susan really drove her kids into the lake so she could hook up with a rich guy.
At the very least, your life can not be this pathetic.

Tycho Brahe died on this date in 1601. Have you heard of him?
I didn't think so.
He is the guy who told Johanns Kepler how planetary motion worked. He is also credited with making more observations regarding astronomy than any of his peers. Kepler used his work to develop the laws of Planetary motion.
So the next time someone offers to make your copies at the office you may want to say "No, Thanks..."
