The Angam Day
The South Pacific island of Nauru has a holiday today.
Angam means celebration and what better to celebrate than when babies are born! The island of Nauru has been in crisis twice now, it's population has fallen remarkably low and so the race was set. The Nauruans needed to have 1,500 members of their population and the date that happened would be Angam day. October 26, 1932 was the first and official Angam day, even though the population of the island has fallen below 1,500 and many more Angam races have been held.
Everyone likes babies and kittens so smile for the Angam baby.
Keep Smiling :D
