Today in 1960 the famed trial of a BOOK ends with the acquittal of the publisher.
Lady Chatterley's Lover, by DH Lawrence is a novel about the wife of a wealthy war injured businessman who can't rise to the occasion and so takes on the gardener as her lover. It uses the words fuck and cunt as therefore is obviously obscene.
The publisher was found not guilty, of course, and DH Lawrence went on to become iconic to the hippy generation because he freed sex.
